From the Trans Canada Hwy 105

We are easy to find! We are right on the Cabot Trail! You have two choices – basically go over the water or around it!

Exit 12

Takes you over the water via the Englishtown Ferry, a quaint experience on a car ferry, that runs 24 hours a day 7 days a week and takes about 5 minutes to cross over. (Reservations are NOT required.) Depending on other traffic this saves about 15 minutes of driving. Cost is $5 each way. From the Ferry drive North about 10 minutes. You will be nearing our property when you see the shop “Leatherworks” (definitely worth a stop to shop!) and 2 minutes further north you will see our B&B sign at the end of the driveway, just past the lake on the left hand side.

OR Exit 11

Takes you around the water and is a beautiful drive with a few artisans’ shops on the way. When you come to a T junction, turn left and drive north for about 7 minutes. Two minutes past the shop “Leatherworks” you will find our sign at the end of the driveway just past the lake on the left hand side.

Traveling South on the Cabot Trail past Ingonish

Approximately 35 minutes south of Ingonish you will see the green road sign for Indian Brook. Just past this is our advance sign followed shortly by our B&B sign at the end of the driveway. As we are just past a curve in the road – slow down after you have passed our advance sign. You will turn right into the driveway.

english-country-garden-bb-penny-ianIan, born in Yorkshire, England, and Penny, born in Ontario, Canada, have lived and worked in places as far reaching as Russia, West Africa, England, India, Kuwait, Manila, America and of course Canada.

Ian and Penny actually met at the Anglican Church in Moscow when Penny was teaching at the International School situated inside the American Embassy and Ian was working for an Irish company with clients in Moscow. Consequently the B&B has original artworks from all these places and antiques from England. The 1850 broad wood Drawing Room grand that was once in the parlour is now in the Colouratura Fine Art gallery where classical music concerts are held.

Ian’s training in the hotel industry has included Downton Abbey-like English stately homes and the Savoy and Claridges Hotels as well as hotel school and University. Penny, who has a Masters in Fine Art, has taught English, drama and art as a well as designing costumes for opera, ballet and drama. They are both passionate about community theatre and the performing arts. Looking after guests takes centre stage of the B&B, giving the best in food, service and attention to detail as they possibly can.
